As I mentioned previously I finally have a MacBook Pro and I also got my hands on an APC40 from Akai Professional. I hadn't used Ableton Live much until a few months ago, but I instantly realised what everyone was talking about. It still lets you be as creative as you want, while having a solid backbone for your set. I can't wait to try it out live!
Anyway, here's the live setup Im planning on using.
Style is kind of trip-hop / glitch / ambient metal (because that makes sense...)
MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.33GHz 2GB RAM
Ableton Live 8
Akai Professional APC40
Line 6 Pod 2.0 w/ FBV4 foot controller
Boss DM1 Delay Machine
Boss CE1 Chorus Ensemble
Ibanez S-Classic
CME UF61 controller keboard
Mbox 2 (or maybe Presonus Firestudio Project? Depends on how many crazy vocal setups I want to do)
Not exactly as compact as I'd like, but it lets me run around and fiddle with everything on the fly. Plus make some guitar noise..maybe I should buy an amp?

vocal booth?
Turns out my new studio space won't accommodate the vocal booth that I've already built.
What I was thinking of doing is putting it under the house and running cables when I needed to use it, but then when I'm working on my own, I can't get down there fast enough (plus I'd be too out of breath!).
Then I remembered that I have a MacBook now and an Mbox, why not just take those into the booth with me? That way I can leave my Presonus interface where it belongs and easily record vocals.
Now I just have to modify the booth so it actually fits under the house. As Maxwell Smart would say, "missed it by that much". It is literally 100mm to high!

mini-studio
Everything fits!
Actually it's turned out pretty well. It's definitely "cosy", but it's a very productive workspace. You can find pictures here
The space doesn't matter so much, as I've been working mainly on web collaborations lately, hip hop / electronica / glitch and the like. Speaking of which, I got my new APC40 a few days ago and it has been blowing my mind! So many possibilities, so little time! It's definitely going to become a major part of my setup I think.

The new house
So it turns out the new place is pretty small, but definitely workable. Looks like drums are out of the question though, so I might need to hire some studio time when I need to do those. The house is high-set though, so maybe I can work something out...
The old drum room has been dismantled and turned into a vocal booth! The design is far better than it was previously, as I've opted for a modular idea. Basically, the walls are made to a template that can be expanded to whatever shape/size required. Still not perfect, but getting there.
Now I just have to dust off those Tetris skills and fit everything in!

Moving!
Unfortunately, the time has come to move, which is always fun!
Especially when that means you need to dismantle a drum isolation booth.
What it does though, is give me a chance to rethink the design of it. This was my second attempt at a drum room/booth and while better than the last, there is still a lot of room for improvement.
Of course, my new location is significantly smaller, so I need to downsize. Not necessarily gear-wise, but in terms of space and layout.
Wish me luck!
